Climatic weapon in action ?!?

The 19th of October, I have asked the question "what is this ?" about the hurricane Wilma (see here).  A link going to the MIMIC-IR images has been given (see here).  Indeed, a strange phenomenon could be observed on these images.

I have then questioned the CIMMS by electronic mail about the bands that we can see in these images, but the answer that I have obtained did not really convince me...:

We note that the "phenomenon" produced strong bands which could be detected by infrared. These bands entered the eye of the hurricane all along in the direction of rotation :

This phenomenon is certainly not an "artefact" and must represent something real.  But what...?

Moreover, this phenomenon was not isolated.  It also appeared on September the 16th with the hurricane Ophelia:

  (in this first case on September 23rd, it seems that the images were "changed" or "manipulated", see here;  in the "official" link given above, one notices that the signal is now strongly attenuated... ).
